Admission and Fees

There are various routes for admission.

The majority of our permanent or long term nursing home residents are placed by Northern Ireland’s Health & Social Services Trusts.

The individual’s health care and personal needs are usually assessed in detail by care managers, social workers and other health care professionals. This is a detailed process, and their needs will be assessed carefully – whether the need for high dependency nursing care or for residential care and support.

Other residents are privately admitted. It may be that they are simply no longer able to remain independent, to care for themselves or be cared at home.

A detailed care plan is developed for each resident – regularly reviewed and updated.

Fees are either negotiated for each individual resident privately, or through health and social care professionals – and paid for by the relevant statutory health care provider.

In the majority of cases, where the HPSS pays for fees – these are negotiated and payment is made directly to the relevant nursing and residential care home.

Day care fees are also arranged individually – and in most cases, payment made directly to the home by the relevant health and social services trust.
